Notice of Special Called Meeting
Pursuant to G.S. 143‑318.12(b) and Section 1.13 of the Council’s Bylaws, notice is hereby given that the North Carolina Innovation Council will hold a Special Called Meeting.
Purpose of the Meeting
- The four options outlined below regarding how to NCIC determines a path regarding statue updates.
- Potential next steps based on the outcome:
- If Option 1 or Option 3 is selected → No additional step, meeting can be adjourned.
- If Option 2 or Option 4 is selected
- Review the consolidated compilation of member comments (if NCIC members submit comments in advance),
- Discuss and/or refine proposed Council comments or revisions to the legislative draft if applicable,
- Work toward Council consensus on the content of any proposed revisions or comments, if applicable, and
- Take any necessary votes to finalize the Council’s position and next steps, if applicable.
Option 1 — Submit No Response
The Council may choose to remain silent and not submit comments or revisions.
No further meetings would be required.
Option 2 — Submit Comments / Proposed Revisions by Monday
The Council would prepare and submit a coordinated set of comments or proposed legislative revisions.
If this option is selected, the Council will reconvene at the Special Called Meeting.
Option 3 — Notify the Representative That the Council Does Not Support Changes to Chapter 169
The Council may choose to not support any legislative amendments and communicate that position formally.
No additional meetings would be required.
Option 4 — Consider Additional Options Proposed by Council Members
New or hybrid approaches may be proposed and voted on during the meeting.
If the chosen approach requires collaborative drafting or refinement by the Council, the Special Called Meeting will be used for this purpose.
